    Letting go of fear...

    Fear is the physical emotion that comes when we feel threatened with loss.
    The fear is, itself, a sense of arousal, of excitation, a motivation to resist or avoid the anticipated loss.

    The solution is to sit quietly and gently feel the fears and then allow the sensations of arousal to move through you and dissipate.

    Resisting the fear only makes it worse. All of the suffering is in the failed resistance.

    Don't try to fix it or complain about the sensations. Feel them a little at time, welcome the feelings of excitation, then physically relax and let them dissolve.
    Be careful not to tense up around them or try to push them out. Instead, relax and let them go.

    Try not to dwell on the ideas that gave rise to the fear sensations, just physically relax the body in the presence of the fear and let the sensations fade.

    Remember to breathe, in a slow and measured way, through all of this.

    If you're having trouble, try consciously holding on to the fear, then relax and let the sensations pass through you. Do it a little at a time, not all at once.
