    Defensiveness: 10 listening blocks to effective communication

    Want to get along better with other people? Learn to be less defensive.

    Research shows that effective communication is the basis of good relationships. And that good communication has less to do with what you say and more to do with how well you listen.

    Good communication is always based on good listening. If you don't listen, you'll jump to conclusions, get everything wrong, miss the feedback, fail to learn and find yourself isolated from others.
